These artworks engage in a dialogue with the soil, delving into its transformative essence. The soil's versatility is a central theme, manifesting in forms both ephemeral and enduring. At times, it is evanescent, like the dust of my handmade pastels, in other instances, it takes on a more substantial presence, akin to the solidified stone created through the scagliola technique of plasterwork..
The evolution of my work is fundamentally anchored in the intricacies of particles, each piece a testament to the microscopic elements that coalesce to form the macroscopic world.
In this exploration, the soil is not merely a medium but a collaborator in the artistic process. Its inherent qualities—ranging from the powdery softness of dust to the robust density of stone—invite a continuous reimagining of texture, form, and meaning. Each artwork becomes a site of transformation, where the raw earth is transmuted into a visual narrative that speaks to both the temporal and the eternal.
I aim to illuminate the often-overlooked subtleties of the natural world, encouraging viewers to contemplate the complex interrelations between matter and meaning. The act of engaging with the soil underscores a deeper philosophical inquiry into the nature of existence and the interconnectedness of all things. It is an invitation to witness the silent yet profound conversations that occur at the level of particles, where the seemingly insignificant combine to create “everything”.
