My artistic process has always started with preliminary sketches in my notebook or on a random piece of paper often crumbled and forgotten. I've come to recognize the significance of these drawings in shaping my artistic ideas and vision. They serve as the foundation of my research and should integrate my palette of works.
Recently, my practice has evolved, leading me from the intimate pages of my notebook to the expansive surface of large linen canvases. This shift has also inspired a transformation in my tools: I have forsaken the conventional pencil in favor of handmade soft pastels, which I craft from soil meticulously gathered during my travels. This soil, imbued with the essence of diverse legends and cultures, enriches my pastels with unique textures and hues, imbuing my work with a profound sense of place and narrative.
The act of making these pastels is a ritualistic process, connecting me to the earth and the environments I traverse. Each stroke is a confluence of my artistic intent and the elemental history of the soil. Thus, my work becomes a dialogue between the natural world and human creativity, with each piece bearing the indelible mark of its origin.
